What is Chiropractic and what can it do for me?

The term chiropractic comes from two Greek words; chiro, meaning “hand” and practic, meaning “practice or operation”. Chiropractic looks at the spine, home to the nervous system, as the source of optimum health. It is a drug free alternative to help alleviate pain. Long term this assists the body in building and maintaining optimum health. We look to find and treat the cause of the problem versus just the symptoms.

Who can chiropractic care benefit?

Anyone with a spine! We adjust joints that are subluxated, misaligned less than a dislocation.

From chronic pain, sports or auto injuries, to fibromyalgia and lower back or neck pain, chiropractic care can help improve your quality of life. Due to the harsh environment we live in and even the stress of childbirth, the youngest to the oldest members of the family can benefit from regular chiropractic care. Many families tell me that when they start coming on a regular basis, the parents have fewer sick days and the children don’t miss as much school!

How long before I feel better?

Many people get relief with the first adjustment. For others it may take a few more. Due to the gentle adjustments and the attention to finding the root problem, improvement is usually in the first week or two.

How does chiropractic work?

Chiropractic care works by treating subluxations. A subluxation is a joint that is not in proper alignment (less than a dislocation) which causes pressure or tension on a set of nerves. This causes information being transmitted through those nerves to be compromised, causing the organ, gland or tissue affected to work less efficiently.
